Januvia (Sitagliptin Phosphate), 14 pils (100 mg), MSD / Merck Sharp & Dohme

Manufacturer: MSD / Merck Sharp & Dohme
Pharmaceutical name: Sitagliptin
Pack: 14 pills (100 mg)

Januvia (Sitagliptin Phosphate) is a once-daily oral diabetes treatment that helps to control blood sugar levels by regulating insulin levels produced by the body after eating. It comes in the form of a 100 mg tablet that is clinically proven FDA approved medication used for treating type 2 diabetes. Both men and women, above the age of 18, with type 2 diabetes can but this highly effective treatment online.

The active substance in Januvia, Sitagliptin, works by increasing the amount of 'incretin' hormones in the body. These hormones are usually released straight after a meal and are used by the body to encourage the pancreas to produce insulin. This is when sitagliptin becomes effective. It will force the pancreas to produce more insulin when glucose levels are high in the blood and will also decrease the amount of sugar produced in the liver. This process effectively controls type 2 diabetes.

The recommended dosage of Januvia will be prescribed at 100mg to be taken once a day. However, in some circumstances, the dosage will vary if you are taking Januvia alongside other anti-diabetic medications and your doctor or the online consultation will be able to advise you further. In addition, for patients who have moderately or severely decreased kidney function, the dose of Januvia will be reduced.

In all cases, you should never take two doses of Januvia on the same day. Remember to check the usage instructions, which can be found on the packaging of the medication. Januvia can be taken with or without food, but you should follow the doctor's instructions. Januvia is at it's most effective when taken as part of a complete treatment program, including exercise, diet, weight control, and regular blood sugar testing.

Everyone has different reactions to medications so it is often difficult to predict any side effects. The more common side effects associated with Januvia include: headaches, joint problems and painful extremities.

Other side effects that are even less common include constipation and dizziness. In most cases, these will disappear once your body has become accustomed to the treatment, but if you feel unwell and this persists, you should inform your doctor as soon as possible.
